Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes
Sigma Alpha Lambda at University of South Florida worked hard to raise money and fight diabetes this November. Chapter members raised money by passing around a "loose change" jar at a meeting prior to the event. Then, members walked almost 3 miles around USF's campus.
Kenda Cummings, VP of Fundraising at USF said, "not only did the walk have a large turnout, but the SAL members who attended really enjoyed getting to know one another during our walk."
SAL and other student organizations joined to help the American Diabetes Association raise funds for research and education about diabetes. The American Diabetes Association is an organization that creates opportunities for education, research, and advocacy of diabetes. Their website,
http://www.diabetes.org., contains information on how others can become involved.
